Dr. D'Ambrosio is a faculty member of the Neurosurgical Department at Columbia University and is primarily located at our Ridgewood, NJ office. His clinical interests include artificial cervical disc replacement, minimally invasive spine surgery, dynamic spinal fusion, spine and spinal cord tumors, and degenerative disease of the entire spine. Dr. D'Ambrosio uses state-of-the-art techniques for spinal surgery including the use of narrow tube retractor systems for cervical and lumbar microdiscectomy and spinal fusion. He also has expertise in the use of computer-guided surgical systems and artificial disc replacement surgery in the cervical spine.
Dr. D'Ambrosio received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his surgical internship, neurosurgical residency training, and post-doctoral research fellowship in New York at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York-Presbyterian Medical Center where he was awarded the Arnold P. Gold Resident Teaching Award. He then went on to complete a skull base fellowship at the University of South Florida, Tampa General Hospital.
Dr. D'Ambrosio is an active member of numerous professiosnal organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgery, the Congress of Neurological Surgery, the North American Skull Base Society and the AANS Joint Section on Tumors. He is presently serving on the Young Neurosurgeons Committee and the Maintenance of Certification Committee for the AANS. He is the director of the Neurosurgical Anatomy Laboratory at Columbia University and has over 40 publications accepted as peer reviewed clinical articles, book chapters, and meeting abstracts.
In addition to working at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. D'Ambrosio directs our Northern New Jersey practice operating out of The Valley Hospital, Chilton Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, and St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital. With his main office in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Dr. D'Ambrosio has helped to establish a center of excellence for Columbia Neurosurgery in the communities of Bergen, Passiac and Rockland counties.
