Dr. Said is the senior physical therapist working at The Spine Hospital as a member of Columbia University’s Department of Neurological Surgery. He is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons’ Program in Physical Therapy and participates in the instruction of Gross Anatomy and Kinesiology/Biomechanics. He is also involved in the clinical education of pain medicine physicians through the department of Anesthesiology fellowship.

Dr. Said received his Bachelor & Master of Engineering degrees from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art in 2001 & 2003, with a focus in Biomechanics. He received his Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University’s Program in Physical Therapy in 2007. While attending Columbia University, Dr. Said was the recipient of the coveted Mary McMillan Award which is awarded by the American Physical Therapy Association to the most promising physical therapy students in the nation. He is also the recipient of Columbia’s prestigious Mary Callahan Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence in Physical Therapy.

Dr. Said previously worked as the Clinic Manager for Excel Orthopedic Rehabilitation where he treated professional and recreational athletes. He is an avid runner and golfer and, as Assistant Athletic Director, he coaches the men’s & women’s basketball teams at Cooper Union. Dr. Said has a particular interest in joint reaction forces that result from the application of manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercises used in the treatment of injured patients. He has presented research on 3-dimensional representations of forces acting on the hip resulting from manipulation of the hip joint. Dr. Said maintains membership in the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Sections.

You will be asked to fax (212) 342-1540 or mail your recent imaging (MRI, CAT scan) reports to our office for his review. It is also helpful to include a brief summary of your history and symptoms. Any question regarding insurance or coverage can be answered at that time.

Dr. Said will review your reports within 24 hours and you will be contacted for an appointment or appropriate referral. Depending on the urgency of your condition, an appointment with Dr. Said can be made within a few days. To assure that all patients receive a thorough evaluation and the best care in a timely manner, the patient should complete forms regarding their medical history and condition.
