Dr. Michael Kaiser from the Spine Center has recruited his family to join him for the American Heart Association’s 2011 Start! Wall Street Run & Heart Walk this May. Here is what he had to say about it:
Any event that motivates people to help a worthy cause is admirable. It is also a great moral boost when people who work together can meet on a social basis and just have fun.
I run regularly for fitness, about 15 – 20 miles a week, although I am no speed demon. I love the exercise but my knees may not appreciate the effort.
I will be running the event with my daughter. My wife and other kids will be walking/running.
We are primarily participating since this is a team effort on the part of the Neurosurgery Department. On a personal note, however, my father suffers from heart disease and my wife’s father died prematurely from a massive heart attack.
My family and I also participate in a local charity run known as “Richard’s Run,” a 5 K race in Ho-Ho-Kus to support the fight against pediatric cancers.
You can also join our team or become a Sponsor. The Heart Walk will be held May 17, 2011 in New York City’s Financial district. Registration and activities begin at 6:45 pm at the World Financial Center.
